LIGHTING THE FIRE

While fire is a crucial ingredient in any backyard barbecue or camp-out hotdogs, it's also the leading cause of deforestation in the United States. But burned doesn't always mean the end. “Igne natura renovatur integra” a phrase that means "through fire, nature is born whole."

Here at Lost Sierra Resin Works, our family has experienced first-hand the devastating loss of wildfire. Head woodworker, pro-home cook, and founder of Lost Sierra Resin Works has always worked with wood and fire, but before he began his mission to bring the beauty of nature and the forest into your homes all across the world, he was first in the front lines doing all he could to prevent the devastating fires tearing through his home.

TENDING THE FLAMES

Son of Dutch immigrants, Erik found beauty in America not just in what was built here, but more importantly… in what wasn't. Forests, oceans, desert, Earth. A wildland firefighter for more than half a decade, Erik worked hard, alongside many others, to protect the natural beauty of his new home from the ever-increasing wildfires.

It was here that he learned fire isn't a tool for destruction, nor is it an ingredient for creation. It was somewhere in between. That in-between is where Erik built his life. Father of two children and married to his beautiful, hardworking Peggy, Erik wasn't just protecting the trees and wildlife, he was protecting his home. After his many years in the fire service, followed by 25 years of mastering the art of woodworking, Erik soon found his two worlds, past and present, merging together in front of him.

A ROARING
BLAZE...

Lost Sierra Resin Works is Erik's third child and his way of combining his past and present. His way of preserving nature and continuing to keep the forests clean. To be a part of his community and to keep small towns like his thriving and growing. And most importantly, to share his love of nature, the forests he grew up protecting, and his home with you.

We want to bring a little of our family's home into yours with each unique and handcrafted piece we create. We use only sustainable materials to create every piece that comes out of our shop and buy as often as we can from other small businesses to keep the American dream alive all across the country.

Not every fire can be stopped and not every moment can be captured. Some memories will be forgotten, and a few may be missed out on, but we believe the important ones are the ones we can't forget. The ones that no matter what happens in our lives, what we go through, and wherever we end up, they still burn hot down inside of us. Those are the memories we want to share with you through our craft and those are the memories we want to help you build.

At Lost Sierra Resin Works we make products for the family of 10 plus “bring a friend” to the brand-new family of 2, soon to be 3. From the single bachelors learning that there's more to the kitchen than cup ramen and mac and cheese to the pro home cook honing their skills to one day serve more than their ever-so-grateful friends and family. Because cooking isn't just about the food and a dinner table isn't just somewhere to eat… So, while we can’t build the memories for you, we can give you all the tools to make the best ones possible. That way you can focus more on the flavor, the fun and the family and let us handle all the in-between.

What are you waiting for? It's time to get cookin!
